Hi, I'm Ted Nugent. Oh, Look, a Duck!
“Tach it up, tach it up
Buddy gonna shut you down…” The Beach Boys - “Shut Down”
Ted Nugent, ‘70s rocker and 2000’s conservative whack-a-doodle, wants to know why we had to shut the country down for Covid-19, when nothing was closed during Covid 1 through 18.
I kid you not.
In a Facebook Live video (which you have to watch for its sheer surrealism) he opines that the government in Texas and the concert tour promoters are not letting him ply his trade, because the “Covid-19 freaks” want to do…who knows what.
Saying that he’s “addicted to truth, logic and common sense” – none of which are exhibited in this video – he wants to know why we weren’t shut down during the other 18 Covid pandemics. Besides, he says, Covid-19 is 99.8% percent survivable, so what’s the big deal.
“Why didn't we shut down with the AIDS epidemic, or the flu or the Spanish Flu or the bird flu or the West Nile flu? Or influenza every year?” he asks. Then he goes on to inform us that 500,000 people didn't really die from Covid-19. It’s just the medical examiners fudging the numbers because “they” made them lie on the death certificates.
For the record, we did shut down during the Flu pandemic of 1918-1919.
Not to mention in some states – like New York for example – they do not routinely issue death certificates with the cause of death listed. They issue what they call a standard death certificate. If you want a death certificate with a medical examiner’s report on cause of death, it has to be ordered separately by a medical professional or a funeral home.
Also, in 2020, there was a significant spike in homicides across the country. It’s hard to see how those numbers would have risen if every death was marked as due to Covid-19. If that were the case, then the numbers of other deaths would have declined, not risen.
Apparently critical thinking is not a strong suit of conservatives.
Neither is using Google.
